Can Power Recliners Be Operated Manually? – Detailed Answer
The simplest and shortest answer to this question is no. Power recliners can not be operated manually. The whole structure of a power recliner is such that it needs electric power to run the motor, which controls the movement of the entire recliner.
When the power supply is cut short, the joints of the recliner jam in their place to avoid any injury to you physically. However, they are also fitted with Lithium-ion batteries that will provide enough power to straighten up the recliner and help you get up from a reclined position.

Most of recliners these days are fitted with large Lithium-ion batteries instead of an electric motor. The replacement of these electric power recliner motors with batteries does not mean that the recliner is wholly independent of electric power. You will still need the electricity to charge up the batteries when they run low on power.
But don’t ever try to operate a power recliner manually. It just won’t work and you might damage the recliner while doing it. So, if you really need to operate a recliner manually, I suggest you stay away from a power recliner and search for a manual recliner.
